Raising Money for Young Adults with Cancer

This fall I am teaming up with FIRST DESCENTS to raise money for young adults diagnosed with cancer. First Descents offers young adult cancer fighters and survivors a free outdoor adventure experience designed to empower them to climb, paddle and surf beyond their diagnosis, defy their cancer, reclaim their lives and connect with others doing the same. They operate as a Colorado not for profit organization and are dependent on donations in order to provide this amazing resource.

A number of First Descents programs are held in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, but they are now pleased to offer adventure programs throughout the country. Programs range anywhere from 2 days to 1 week in length. Any young adult with a diagnosis cancer is eligible regardless of physical challenges, level of functioning, diagnosis, or prognosis!

During First Descents programs, young adults are empowered through conquering legitimate outdoor challenges by pushing their limits and facing their fears. By doing so, they are able to regain confidence and self-efficacy challenged by cancer. Each program is limited to 15 participants, ensuring individualized care, medical attention and an intimate experience with fellow survivors. First Descents programs are available to young adults with cancer regardless of their financial means. All meals, accommodations and program activities are provided free of charge, including travel scholarships, when needed.

Please help me by supporting this wonderful cause! I will be participating in the Rock ‘N Roll Denver Marathon on October 19 in a fundraising effort for Team First Descent. To make a donation on my behalf and help me reach my fundraising goals, visit MY DONATION PAGE.
