I’ve been an active participant in a number of endurance sports during the past 10 years. I love the challenge of setting new goals and the discipline in training. The last few endurance events I’ve participated have involved working with charitable organizations. Last year I worked with First Descents, a Denver non-profit providing adventure based programming for young adults with cancer as I prepared for the Denver Marathon. This year I am thrilled to announce that I’ve been selected to the Ironman Foundation Triathlon Team.
The Ironman Foundation is an internationally known non-profit organization that provides dedicated service and financial contributions to communities which host their events. In 2014 they donated $1.2 million dollars to local non-profits in Ironman communities throughout the world. Their mission involves improving communities through philanthropy and community service.
As a member of the team, I will be participating in the Boulder 70.3 race on June 13. We will be involved in a community service project the Thursday before the race with a yet to be determined non-profit organization in Boulder. Details of that project are still being finalized. Additionally, I am asking for financial contributions to the Ironman Foundation via Crowdrise. Your contribution will be used by the Foundation to aid existing non-profits established in the Boulder community. And of course, your donation is 100% tax deductible 🙂
