High Performance Mental Skills Training

High Performance Mental Skills Training

You’ve seen the scenario play out before: You start something athletic-related—a training program, a tempo session on the track, a self-care practice like foam rolling, your target race—and you are gung ho.Sports Psychology Denver, Dr Justin Ross

You are confident you will NAIL IT this time.

Then, an obstacle hits. The flu invades your house, and three weeks of missed workouts fly by.

Or, demoralized by your splits, you quit the workout halfway through.

Or dinner prep + gymnastics carpool duties + endless emails + family duties/school duties/work duties derail your evening foam rolling plans. (And you were going to plank during every commercial, too!)

Or you get to mile 11 of your half-marathon, totally on goal pace, but your legs are pissed and your mind has WTF on repeat, so you let yourself off the hook.

Here’s the thing: Your intentions aren’t bad. You’re not weak or wishy-washy or wrong.

You just need an assist from the complex mechanism that impacts how you train and compete – your mind. It happens to play the starring role in how your body performs, how you dedicate yourself to your craft, and how or when you decided to let yourself off the hook.

In order to optimize your performance, you eat well, you do your strength training, you foam roll and stretch (occasionally, at least). But you may often neglect a key factor that determines your success – the cultivation of a high performance mindset.

In order to thrive, you need to address your mental skills: things like learning how to channel thoughts, deal with anxieties, set appropriate goals, and manage your internal dialogue. You need to develop grit, mental toughness, and deep focus in order to reach your potential. When you align your mind with your body you can execute the training cycle, push through obstacles as they arise, and learn to embrace discomfort without cracking.

I am thrilled to be offering 2 High Performance Mental Skills Training sessions. One of these sessions is in conjunction with Perform Like a Mother, and will be offered only to their existing clientele enrolled in one of their training programs. If you are an existing Train Like a Mother Client, please be sure to click over that to link to enroll!

The other session will contain the exact same content, but will be offered to a broader audience This group is open to anyone interested in developing a high performance mindset for their particular sport – it does not have to be running specific.

Each session is 90 minutes in webinar format, which allows for interaction with me as well as with your fellow attendees. Space is limited to ensure proper attention to everyone’s individual needs. Enough time, yet few enough participants, that your personal concerns can be heard and addressed—while also allowing you to benefit from hearing from your fellow athletes.

Session time will be split between presentation and questions from you.

You can attend one, two or all three. They are priced at $75 (a solo session), $125 (for two), or $160 (all three), respectively. Individually, they are valuable to address individual needs; as a package, they help create a comprehensive high-performance perspective with concepts that will be linked together as the series progresses.
