Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a structured form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that helps build coping skills for more effective living. DBT implements several key modules:
Mindfulness – learning how to be more authentically present in each and every moment without clouding experiences with judgment or personal perception.
Interpersonal Effectiveness -working to establish connections with others and strengthen relationships.
Distress Tolerance – learning how to identify a true crisis from momentary discomfort/pain. Increasing management strategies for critical moments in life without making those situations worse.
Emotion Regulation – balancing life’s daily ups and downs while working to maintain long term emotional stability through identification, expression, and self-care.
Walking the Middle Path – Not every program teaches this, the newest model in DBT. Learning how to see the grey area in situations by reducing the tendency for all or nothing (black or white) thinking.
DBT is offered in individual, family and group formats at MindBodyHealth. Our group programs are always changing based on availability and current schedules. Please contact us for more information.
